EAJC Secretary General Visits Tula
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Secretary General Michael Chlenov has visited Tula at the invitation of the Tula Jewish community. Chlenov learned about the work of the Tula Regional Jewish Charity Center (TOEBC) Chasdei Neshama, and visited the local prayer hall, library, classroom for Hebrew studies, computer class, and job center. Tula presented the library with a box full of books published with EAJC support.
At the TOEBC, Michael Chlenov gave lectures about the current situation with anti-Semitism in the Euro-Asian region to the local Jewish communtiy (based on reports prepared by EAJC experts) and participated in a meeting of the Center’s Trustee Board. He also visited the synagogue and old Jewish cemetery, which the community is planning to have restored.
Michael Chlenov also held working meetings with TOEBC Trustee Board member Mikhail Slutsky, Federation of Jewish Communities and Organizations (VAAD) Russia board member Yuri Zakon, and Chairman of the Jewish National Cultural Autonomy of Tula Region Lev Raihlin.
