A meeting of the Interfaith Women’s Council of Russia took place in Moscow, at the conference hall of the Federation for Peace and Conciliation. The Council is made up of female leaders of religious and community organizations who represent the traditional religions of Russia. “Project Kesher,” an inter-regional Jewish women’s organization that is a part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), is represented in the Council by EAJC General Council member Svetlana Yakimenko.

The goal of the meeting was to present the “We Live in a Common Home” project, which involved possible venues of joint activity aimed at facilitating a peaceful approach in solving inter-ethnic and interfaith problems. These venues were proposed by Council members.

“Nothing must be permitted to divide us. We have one past. And here, on Russian soil, we have one present, and our children have one future, and we want that future to be good and peaceful, and to live in respect and concord,” Svetlana Yakimenko stressed in her speech.
