                  EAJC Delegation at the WJC Plenary Assembly in Buenos Aires

                  The Delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) took part in the Special Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) in Buenos Aires. The Jewish communities of 67 countries were represented by more than 400 delegates.
                  The EAJC delegation consisted of: Mikhail Chlenov (Russia), Secretary General, Joseph Zissels (Ukraine), General Council Chairman, Alexander Baron (Kazakhstan), member of the Presidium, members of the General Council Gehry Kureta (Albania), Rimma Varzhapetyan (Armenia), Boris Gersten (Belarus ), Guram Batiashvili (Georgia), Victoria Mochalova (Russia), Mikhail Oshtrakh (Russia), Valery Davydov (Tajikistan), as well as Sammy Samuels (Burma), Erica Lyons (Hong Kong), David Semayya (Japan) and other representatives of the communities in the region.
                  Assembly participants were greeted by Mauricio Macri, President of Argentina, Ronald Lauder, President of the WJC, Jack Terpins, leader of the Latin American Jewish Congress. Delegates adopted amendments to the WJC statute, approved Ronald Lauder as a candidate for the post of WJC president in the upcoming elections, took a number of resolutions on counter-terrorism, anti-Semitism, the delegitimization of Israel. Delegates took part in the mourning events dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attack at the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, visited the scene of the tragedy, as well as the place of another bloody terrorist attack (1994) – at the Argentine-Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA).
                  As part of the Assembly working meetings of the EAJC delegation with Ronald Lauder and the leadership of the Jewish community of Argentina took place. There was also a special meeting of delegates from communities – members of the EAJC. The meeting discussed ongoing EAJC programs and presentations made by community leaders. Russian members of the delegation headed by Mikhail Chlenov visited the Russian Embassy in Argentina and met with Ambassador Victor Coronelli.
