                  Conference "Protecting Future" in Moscow

                  Julius Meinl, President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) spoke at the opening of the first International Conference on Anti-Semitism "Protecting Future", held in Moscow. The conference is organized by the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), in cooperation with the Moscow Government, the World Jewish Congress (WJC), the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) and the Foundation "Genesis". In his speech, Julius Meinl stressed the importance of joint efforts in the fight against anti-Semitism evil.
                  Among the speakers at the opening ceremony were WJC President Ronald Lauder, RJC President Yuri Kanner, Israeli Minister of internal security Gilad Erdan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, head of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Igor Barinov, head of the Presidential Council on Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov and others. The conference brought together numerous scientists, experts, politicians, public figures and journalists from Russia, Israel, USA, Germany and other countries.
                  The conference program includes plenary sessions and "round tables" on topics such as: "Anti-Semitism in Russia and in the world – the history and forms of opposition"; "The government, society and anti-Semitism"; "Anti-Semitism in contemporary culture and education"; "Anti-Semitism in the media and Internet" etc.
                  The first plenary session was hosted by EAJC Secretary General Michail Chlenov and the OSCE Special Representative on Combating Anti-Semitism Andrew Baker.
                  At the session were presented reports by Shimon Samuels, Director of International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center, Robert Singer, Executive Vice President of WJC, Lev Gudkov, Director of the Levada Center and others. Michael Chlenov in his speech presented a broad comparative perspective of the dynamics of anti-Semitism in various parts of the world.
