On November 13, 2013, the HaTikvah Kyiv Center for Progressive Judaism hosted a lecture by Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Chairman Josef Zisels titled “All-Ukrainian Union ‘Svoboda’: Myths and Reality.”

On November 12, 2013, the representatives of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) met with the USA Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Ira Forman in Kyiv. EAJC General Council Chairman Josef Zisels, EAJC General Council members Anatoliy Podolsky and Vyacheslav Likhachev participated in the meeting.

Mustafa Cemilev -- People’s Deputy of Ukraine, first Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People -- has turned 70. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress congratulates Mustafa-aga, our comrade-in-arms for human rights, on his anniversary. We wish him good health and many years of life to come - a worthy life for a worthy man.

From October 29 to November 7, the International Competition on Jewish History and Tradition “From the Depth of the Ages” took place in Pavlodar (Kazakhstan).

On November 11, 2013, hearings titled “Jewish Communities Counteracting Anti-Semitism and the Delegitimization of Israel” were held in the Knesset by the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Committee. During the hearings, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Deputy Secretary General Haim Ben Yakov read the yearly anti-Semitism report and a special report on the Ukrainian “Svoboda” party, both prepared by the EAJC analyst group.

 

The St. Petersburg Jewish Book Festival is an important rare example of how a Jewish cultural initiative can go on for many years in post-Soviet territory. By now, it is hard to imagine Jewish life of the “northern capital of Russia” without it. The St. Petersburg Jewish Community Center has the honor of inviting residents and guests of the city to this popular event for the 15th time.

The International Jewish Women’s Organization Project Kesher celebrated its 25h anniversary in November. Celebrations were held in the Moscow Oblast and Bryanskaya Oblast regional branches.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Secretary General has taken participation in the “Limmud - St. Petersburg - 2013” conference as part of his working visit to St. Petersburg. The EAJC Secretary General gave a lecture titled “Who are the Jews of Eurasia?”

On Novemer 8-9, 2013, an international conference took place in Berlin titled “Anti-Semitism in Europe Today: Phenomenon and Conflicts.” Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Chairman Josef Zisels, EAJC General Council members Anatoliy Podolsky and Vyacheslav Likhachev participated in the conference.

On November 5-7, the World Zionist Organization (WZO) held a meeting of its General Council in Jerusalem.
