On February 27, the Kyiv office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) hosted a public lecture by EAJC General Council member, historian and political studies scholar Vyachelav Likhachev. The lecture was titles “From Holy Scrolls to Sacred Oaks: A Tradition Invented in the Crimea.”
On February 26, the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Josef Zisels met with the Vice Rector of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Professor Yaakov Schul. At the meeting they discussed possible cooperation between the Ukrainian National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (NaUKMA) and the Hebrew University to create a Jewish Studies Master's program in Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
On February 21-27, the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Josef Zisels and EAJC General Council Member Leonid Finberg visited Israel. They held a number of meetings dedicated to the discussion of current and new EAJC projects and programs.
On February 19-20, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council Chairman Josef Ziels made a working visit to Lviv. The visit and meetings were dedicated to the questions and problems of preserving the cultural heritage of the Galitsian Jews.
Haim Ben Yakov, EAJC Deputy Secretary General spoke at a session of the Knesset Aliyah, Absorption and Diaspora Committee. The Committee session was dedicated to Israel's policy on Jewish communities of the world.
On February 19-23, the 38th Session of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations took place in Israel. The Conference is one of the EAJC's long-term strategic partners, and the two organizations have organized a number of joint diplomatic missions to the countries of the Euro-Asian Region and the SAR. EAJC Deputy Secretary General, EAJC representative in Israel Haim ben Yakov took part in this session of the Conference.
The World Congress of Jews of Georgia (WCJG), led by its President, the Vice President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Gabriel Mirilashvili has organized a meeting between the representatives of the Georgian Jewish community with the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, who visited the Jewish State with a group of pilgrlims.
The Jewish community center of Almata held a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Kazakhstan Merited Master of Arts, painter, writer, and poet Pavel Zaltsman.
