The leaders of the Jewish communities that are a part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) continue their efforts to explain the position of the Congress on the upcoming UN vote on the Palestinian membership in the UN. The Jewish communities are turning to the leaders of their countries, calling for them not to support the gamble bein pressed at the UN General Assembly upon the global community by the Palestinian leadership.

As part of the systematic efforts of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress to explain the position of the Jewish community on the unilateral proclamation and recognition of the Palestinian State, EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov has met with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Michael Bogdanov.

At the EAJC's request, Alexander Netzak, President of the Jewish Community of Serbia (an EAJC observer) sent a letter to the President of Serbia Boris Tadic and the Serbia Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic, which contained a call to vote against the unilateral proclamation of the Palestinian State, but, for the sake of peace in the region, support a return to negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

On September 13, the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Josef Zisels and EAJC General Council member, leader of the Jewish community of Armenia Rimma Vardjapetyan spoke with the representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the problems of the unilateral proclamation of a Palestinian State at the nearest session of the UN General Assembly.

The Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Michael Chlenov has taken part in the 11th International Festival of Jewish Culture and Art in Birobidzhan, as well as the 1st International Conference ''Jewish Culture in Yiddish: Roots, Tradition, Transformation, Today,'' which had been timed to the festival.

On September 9, the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Josef Zisels and General Council members Elena Berkovich and Guram Batiashvili met with Georgia Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze.

The Moscow Independent Press Center has hosted a presentation by the Expert Group on Anti-Semitism of the Jewish community of Russia, which was created several years ago with the suppot of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

On September 4, the Moscow office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) hosted a meeting between the EAJC Secretary General, Professor Michael Chlenov, and the leaders of the Annual Herzloyah Conference – its President, General Danny Rotschield and Director Michael (Miki) Altar.

To celebrate the 500th issue of the St. Petersburg Jewish newspaper: “Ami. My People,” the EAJC PR Department has sent the “Ami” editor-in-chief a letter of salutations.
