                  A two-day seminar on the basics of Jewish culture, part of the ShoReSH project, has taken place in Kostanai. The participants of the seminar came from several Kazakhstan cities and towns: many were from the Rudniy and Lysakovsk cities, and from two cities further off – Karabalyk and Nauchniy town.

                  The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Jewish Congress and the Pensioner Affairs Ministry of Israel are beginning a new stage in the campaign to attract international attention to the rights of Jewish refugees who have left Arabian countries after 1948.                   On August 27, a delegation lead by the Israeli Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli-Youel Edelstein visited the capital of Georgia, where a meeting with the Georgian Jewish community took place in the Tbilisi Jewish Community House. The delegation included: Knesset Deputy Nino Abesadze, Nativ head Naomi Ben Ami, Israeli Consul Ron Schechter, and the new Ambassador of Israel to Georgia, Yuval Fuchs. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress was represented by General Council member Elena Berkovich.

                  The Jewish community of Almaty (Kazakhstan) has held a memorial event for Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who had saved thousands of Jews during World War II. The event was organized by the Mitzvah Association of Jewish Communities of Kazakhstan, which is a part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

                  The second volume of 'Jews in Eastern Kazakhstan' by Nina Krutova is now in print. The first volume had been published in 2006. Nina Krutova has been researching the Jewish history of Kazakhstan since 1999. Her articles have been published in scholarly journals of Moscow, Barnaul, Gorno-Altaysk, Semipalatinsk, and Ust'-Kamenogorsk.
